Envisioning the Future of SJC
Following the strong response to the Fall 2009 Needs Assessment survey, a larger project called "Envisioneering" began. Envisioneering is the process where interested parishioners share their visions of what our parish can become in a few years. From the collected visions, action plans are made to bring ideas to life. Ultimately, the steps we take can advance St Joseph of Cupertino Parish in the directions we believe will benefit our parishioners and community best.
SJC Envisioneering efforts directly support our Bishop's 2002 Pastoral Plan "Renewing the Church". The effort has strong support from our Pastor, Rev. Greg Kimm and from the leadership within our parish. Our Bishop's plan states that the parish is "ground-zero" for our efforts to renew our local Church.
The broad goals of Envisioneering are: to grow active participation in our parish and church; strongly support our youth and young adults in their own spiritual and life growth; and strengthen our community and its social justice ministry.
During the sessions in July and August 2010, participants expressed their ideas, dreams and visions for the future of SJC. At the last session in August, action plans were drafted. The selected plans addressed:
- Community Spirit
- Faith Formation and Spirtual Growth
- Youth and Young Adults Involvement
- Service to our Parish and Community
The Envisioneering Team, on 1 September 2010, presented the Parish Advisory Council with a report on the efforts and results to date with an overview of the action plans in process.
The plans will undergo some refinement and then will be presented to the Parish Advisory Council for review and recommendation in early October. Final approval of each plan is the responsibility of Rev. Greg Kimm.
Announcements of Parish Envisioneering Activities will be made as they develop. Interested parishioners are encouraged to contact the Communications Ministry to get involved.
